The Best Global Experts
I have completed a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Karachi. Throughout my academic journey, I was passionate about helping my classmates understand complex concepts and sharing my insights to support their learning. After earning my M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics, I immediately began my teaching career. Graduating at the top of my class in both my B.Sc. and M.Sc., I joined my department as an instructor. I taught various courses, including Algebra & Calculus, Mechanics & Geometry, Data Processing and Programming, and Discrete Mathematics, at two universities in Karachi, Pakistan.
I then moved to Canada and pursued an M.Sc. in Computer Science at McMaster University, where I also worked as a teaching assistant. Upon completing my degree, I worked as a Quality Assurance Analyst and later as an instructor at Sheridan CollegeI took a break from my career to raise my children. During this time, I started my own business, though it was unrelated to my academic background. When my youngest child started kindergarten, I decided to return to work and developed an interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI). With my strong foundation in Mathematics and Computer Science, I pursued online courses to explore AI further. Reflecting on my journey, I realize that mentorship programs for women like me could have accelerated my transition back into the workforce. I also learned that many women face similar challenges when re-entering the job market after a break—whether it’s updating skills or gaining relevant experience.
I started by taking a part-time teaching position while enrolling in an online MicroMasters program in Data Science. I also volunteered with various tech organizations. Despite my solid academic and teaching background, it took significant time and effort before I secured a full-time position.
I am deeply passionate about guiding and mentoring others. As an advocate for girls’ education, I am currently a Google Women Techmakers Ambassador and a tech mentor for AnitaB.org. I love sharing my knowledge and experiences to help others grow. During my MicroMasters program, I noticed many aspiring learners eager to dive into Data Science but unsure where to begin. To support them, I created the Facebook page Learn AI and Data Science, which has grown to over 2.7K followers.

What They’re Saying?
After participating in Mehwish's class (computer class) at Action for Healthy Community in 2021, I can honestly say that she is an organized, practician, and driven teacher who inspires her students and supports their daily goals. Mehwish has the ability to communicate with each student and is talented for making tricky subjects understandable Her commitment to innovating and thinking outside the box, combined with her positive attitude, brings her credit to any school she chooses to move to. I can wholeheartedly recommend Mehwish to you with no reservations.
I cannot express enough how highly I recommend Ms. Mehwish as a professor. She has a passion for teaching, and it showed in every class She always ensured that complex topics were easy to understand, and she was always available outside of class to provide additional support and guidance. She fostered a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students felt comfortable participating. She was a great mentor who was always willing to give advice and provide support. She is a dedicated and skilled educator who goes above and beyond to ensure her students succeed. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to learn from her.
I know Ms. Mughal for the past 18 years. She was our Lecturer for Mathematics at the University of Karachi, Pakistan. She taught us two courses during my undergraduate During our interaction, I found Ms. Mughal to be extremely professional in her teaching. Her teaching materials were very well researched and presented in a manner that was understandable to all students with different learning needs. I was her class representative, so I had the chance to observe her more closely. Students generally don’t have any difficulty in her classes, and she was always happy to provide additional support whenever needed. Ms. Mughal provided a constructive and inclusive environment where students had the chance to participate equally. An important aspect that I like about her approach to teaching was understanding flaws in the teaching methods back at that time. The teaching was more passive and limited consideration was given to active methods. She addressed this issue and I believe that this was because she was an extremely bright student herself. She stood first in the faculty. So, I think she had appreciated the problem students were facing.
I had the pleasure of having Mehwish Abbasi as an Instructor at FAST - National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCES) Karachi I would highly recommend Mehwish Abbasi for an exceptional teacher, mentor and well-deserving of Teaching Excellence Award. Her willingness to go above and beyond for her students, whether it be through office hours or extra help sessions, truly sets her apart as a top-notch educator. She has made an invaluable contribution to the education of her students and has earned the respect and admiration of both her colleagues and learners.
It is my great opportunity to write this recommendation letter for Mehwish Abbasi, a highly qualified computer teacher ever found in my life If I don’t write this recommendation letter it won’t be fair and justice to her. I strongly believe that she is so committed and knowledgeable in her subject matter and capable to handle all the levels of students at the same time that I never saw that kind of excellency in teaching practices while teaching in Action for Healthy Community. Furthermore, she deserves to be rewarded for extraordinary teaching skills and in-depth knowledge and fully confident in her subject matter while teaching any kind of students. She is at the topmost level and a model in teaching field and practices. Also, I am strongly confident that she will be a great researcher to explore and create innovations in computer science and file patents in future. I wish her bright future and meaningful life forever being a light and a mentor for all.
I am very much thankful to you for your support at all the times and dedication which you had put in teaching us computer skills. I really enjoyed learning computer skills from you and I am proud to say that I have been your student. Once again thank you much for the knowledge you shared with us and making us more confident with computer skills. You are the best teacher ever Mehwish.
Miss Mehwish taught me Calculus during the first year of my university. Although she was teaching for the first time , she had complete command over her course and taught in a way which was very easy to understand for the students. Her academic excellence was evident through her teaching skills. I wish her all the best for her future endeavors.
